Please note: deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Cancel it separately in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings, or billing continues.
Deleting from inside the app
The fastest and most complete route:
- Open Sheina AI on your device.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm with Delete.
What is actually deleted
The action reaches our server and does all of the following:
- Your sign-in account is permanently deleted — you cannot sign in with it again.
- Your identifying details are removed from the server: first name, last name, display name, email address, phone, photo, gender and date of birth.
- If you are the only parent, your baby and their journal are deleted from the main database — sleep, feeding, diapers, vaccinations, growth measurements, developmental events and notes. If new record types have been added since, those go too: the deletion enumerates what actually exists rather than a fixed list. The recommendation records, correction history, photo and health information go too. (See "What is kept, and why" for backups.)
- Your usage analytics are deleted.
- Any research copy of journal events you recorded in earlier versions is deleted.
- Open invitations are revoked, so a code you handed out can no longer be used to join your family.
- Every share link you created is revoked — an address you already sent stops serving data.
- Your devices' notification tokens are deleted.
- Bug reports you sent from the app are deleted, along with the text you wrote and the device description.
If another parent is in the family
Your baby's record is not yours alone to delete. In that case:
- The shared record stays with the other parent, with all its history.
- You are removed from the family.
- Actions you took in the record that remains will read as "a parent" rather than by your name. Your internal user id stays in the shared record only as the technical marker of who created or changed an entry, without a name.
- The records of which recommendations you saw are converted into counts with no identifier.
- If you hold the family's subscription, transfer ownership to the other parent (or remove them) before deleting.
What is kept, and why
Deleting your account does not erase every trace in the following cases:
- A minimal account record with the identifying fields removed — your user id, subscription status, the deletion date (day only) and which versions of the Terms, Privacy Policy and any research consent you accepted. It lets historical actions in the record left with your co-parent read as "a parent", lets a late billing event be processed, and records which consent was given.
- Billing records — subscription-event, promotional-code and grant records keep your user id, for billing, accounting and dispute purposes and as the law requires. The customer record at RevenueCat (user id and purchase history) is not deleted automatically. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records.
- An audit trail of invitations you issued — who joined the family and when. It is the only record of who was given access, and the remaining parent needs it.
- The shared record that stays with another parent — including the entries you made, the recommendation records and the correction history, without your name (see above).
- Backups — deleted data is removed from the live database immediately, and can remain in backups for up to 98 days (plus 7 days of point-in-time recovery) before it expires automatically — so it is fully gone within 105 days.
- Server logs — kept for about 30 days, without names or email addresses.
Your Apple or Google account. Deleting your Sheina account does not delete your Apple or Google account. If you signed in with Apple, you can remove Sheina in your iPhone's settings: Settings → your name → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple. If you signed in with Google, the app tries to revoke its access during deletion; you can check this at myaccount.google.com.
The full details are in section 18 of the Privacy Policy.
Chat history from earlier versions
The app currently has no chat. If you used the chat in an earlier version, that conversation history is stored on your device only — it was never uploaded to our servers. It is deleted when you delete your account in the app, and also when you delete the app itself. We cannot delete it remotely, so an email request cannot remove it. While the chat was available, each message you sent was passed through our server to an AI provider (OpenAI or Google Gemini) to produce a reply.
Deleting the app from your device
Deleting the app removes local data only: drafts, preferences and any chat history from earlier versions. The cloud copy remains until you delete your account — reinstall and sign in, and your data comes back.
Requesting deletion by email
If you cannot reach the app, write to hello@sheina.ai from the email address associated with the account. We will act within 30 days and confirm by email.
The request performs exactly the same deletion, except for any chat history from earlier versions, which is on your device.
